ABOUT ME

I’ve been riding in or driving BMWs since 1972, when my parents brought home a silly orange car from “Alfred’s Foreign Cars” in Erie PA when I was four years old. That car was a 2002 named “Zelda” and I’ve been in love with them ever since.

Even with a lifetime of driving and repairing them, I still think they’re among the best (and most fun) cars ever made which is why they are my exclusive professional focus. From mechanical repairs and restoration to performance tuning, these vehicles are all I know…and I know them well. Project management, tii tuning, Weber carburetors… there’s lots to know (and learn!) I’ve built multi-million dollar European classics and worked for restoration businesses that perform six figure restorations, but classic BMWs will always be at the center of my heart.

I still learn something new from every 2002, CS, or E3 I touch. I hope that never stops! You’ll notice I avoid words such as “we”, “our”, and “us” to describe the inner workings of the shop. That’s because I am a single human being without employees or staff. I do it all. Sometimes that means being the janitor, electrician, plumber, and all-around lackey.

The equipment and tools present in the shop are purchased, tailored, and often modified to be used on one singular type of vehicle: Classic BMWs.

I’m small…but efficient.

SPECIALIZED

I occasionally come upon old repairs that are careless and dangerous, but many of the poor quality repairs I find on these cars are the result of simple and honest mistakes due to lack of familiarity. Most flawed repairs and maintenance are made by well-meaning but inexperienced mechanics or owners, simply unfamiliar with the nuances and special specifications of classic and vintage BMWs. There’s nothing more expensive than having a non-specialist work on your classic BMW. Frequently I see businesses advertising that they “specialize” in 6 different auto manufacturers spanning many years and models. If they’re specialized in so many things, is it really a specialty?

I do one thing here: 1960s and 1970s BMW automobiles.

TRUTH and communication

I believe in truthful communication and lots of it. I enjoy having my clients involved in the process and that means a great deal of communication occurs throughout the project. No high pressure sales. No half-truths. No excuses. I simply want you to have a reliable, safe, and joyful experience behind the wheel of one of the world’s greatest machines.

Old cars by nature, are dirty polluting beings. In some ways they (and the services they require) are detrimental to our environment. I have made a commitment to be environmentally conscious with my business. That means I embrace recycling of plastics, paper, fluids, and other items often thrown in landfills. We have only one planet.

I believe all people have the right to pursue happiness regardless of color, ethnicity, sexual identity, religion, or political affiliation.
